Location

I work remotely from Athens, Greece and collaborate with teams worldwide. Time zone differences have never been a barrier—I’m used to working across US and European hours, and have collaborated with teams in other time zones as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of projects do you take on?

I work on projects ranging from focused consulting engagements (a few weeks) to ongoing technical partnerships (months to years). Most of my work is with mission-driven organisations—research institutes, non-profits, rare disease consortia, environmental data initiatives—where the data work has a clear purpose beyond the data itself. Typical projects include:

  • Ontology development and curation
  • Knowledge graph design and implementation
  • Semantic mapping and data integration
  • Establishing FAIR data practices
  • Training and capacity building

What kind of project is the best fit?

The engagements where I add the most value tend to share a few traits:

  • They care about evidence and provenance, not just volume
  • They’re open to contributing back to open standards
  • They prefer low-bureaucracy collaboration
  • The people involved genuinely want to understand the system being built—not just hand it off

If that sounds like your project, we’ll probably work well together.

What projects aren’t a good fit?

I’m not the right fit for pure ML/parameter tuning work (that’s not my expertise), pure database performance optimisation, or projects that are heavily NDA-restricted with no path to open contribution—I do my best work in open, collaborative environments. I’m also not interested in projects where the brief is essentially “add AI” without a clear mission driving the work.

Do you work with industry clients?

Most of my work has been with research organisations and non-profits, though I’ve contributed to industry collaboration projects — typically where a research mission was driving the work. I’m open to industry engagements, especially when the outcome benefits a broader community or advances open standards, not just a single product.

How does pricing work?

I prefer scoped statements of work over open-ended hourly billing — it keeps both sides focused on outcomes rather than time spent. For well-defined projects, I provide a fixed-price proposal after an initial discovery conversation. For ongoing partnerships where the scope evolves, I work on a retainer or periodic SOW basis. Pricing is transparent and I’m happy to walk through what it covers.

Can you provide references?

Yes. I’m happy to connect you with past clients who can speak to their experience working with me.
